ELBOW

Yeah, I think what I would do is use 2 elbows connected with a short piece of pice and make a Z so that the bottom elbow is half submerged but not completely submerged in the water.

LOL....Hubby came in and said he knows what you are talking about........He wonders if there is enough pressure for the water to flow thru all of that

I could not imagine why there would not be.....but what do I know....LOL

So I should get 2 elbows??? (we have some pvc)

I just want it to be quieter :(

This is what I mean by making a Z. The top connects to the piece on the side of the sump and the bottom sits half in the water and half above the water. You dont want to fully submerge the bottom under water.

Yeah the pressure won't be a problem because the water is just falling downward instead of fighting to go upward. This way of making a Z will do away with the splashing and be a heck of alot quieter for you.

If I don't have enough room, can I just use one elbow to get the water flow closer to the water
Try it both ways, Meow. But just getting the pipe strait down closer to the water is still going to give you some splashing sound. I'm certain that if you just turn the bottom elbow sideways that you will have plenty of room judging by what I see in your picture. There should be no need to glue the pieces together since where won't be much pressure on them.

OK....Looks like one elbow will do it.....here are the pics, with the one elbow it still sits above the water

AND OMG...what a difference in noise

And see how it is right above the water level

Cool

Wow the first pic that you posted on top of the thread was kind of decieving...it looked like the pipe was a lot higher up from the water than what it is. Glad it helped.
