electric bill - please help

Yeah, swapping ballasts is no problem. I would deff. recommend using an electronic. Just match the ballast to the bulbs you want to use.... A 150 watt HQI ballast (electronic) would be an M-81 type. Here is a page to reference bulb type to ANSI rating to Ballast type...

That should help.... Generally the 250 watt HQI bulbs (double ended like you have) are the M-80 ANSI rating. Of course you could find a core & coil ballast just make sure you get the correct type for your bulbs. Pulse/probe start.
I would seriously consider calling the company that made the ballasts or the place you got them from to see if there is anything they can do. It is possible that there is something wrong with one of the ballasts.

mmm havent dealt with them. Sounds like a raw deal... I thought you said they were Catalina Aquarium? Maybe my memory just sucks idk?
If it is CA equipment get in touch with them.

I think its the same company,,,they were worthless when I bought the lights. said they shipped, but didnt..then did it again...waited 3 and a half weeks before I got the set up. (400 miles away) And the box had no padding in there, just ballast and lights in a shreaded box..
Anyway...Not to worrk, Im more worried about tmy electric bill being crazy

I just added MH to my 125 at 3 - 250 HQI Mh
So when adding up total watts used is that 250 * 3=750 watts?
My bill is climbing higher and higher every month and we dont even have AC!
Question is, Is the total wattage from my lights 750 or is it more considereing the ballast too?
Please shed some light for me!
