I have so many reptiles that the tank is just a small portion in comparison, but my average bill is $200-$245 a month, this is expecterd to drop a little because I am moving into a new house I just rewired so there will be no overloading of circuts wich increases ineffeciency and power usage, plus with a propane hot water heater wich is 40% more effecient than electric, and a gas stove, I expect at least a $20 drop per month, hopefully more.

Also if you go with those nickel -silver plated windows your energy bill will drop more. And a continuous water heater is cheaper still. (only heats as you need it) But the propane/natural gas ones are spendy buggers...

My average electric consumption DOUBLED since I got a 90 gallon reef system. That's $100/month increase and I've got 2 years of electric bills to prove it!
I have 2 175w Metal Halides on for 8 hours/day. 2 110w Actinics on for 12hours/day. 300w heater, skimmer, 3 in aquarium pumps, Mag 9 return pump. LED Moon lights, PH monitor, and 2 in hood fans.
My wife saw the electric bill a few months ago and wanted to unplug everything! She already hated the aquarium to begin with, now she's got a legitimate rea$on.
I have to admit, I had no idea reef systems sucked up that much electricity.
