could my electric bill be $40.00 for my tank alone it was $90.00 last month and it should be $40-$50. I have an icecap 660 ballast, wavemaster with 3 powerheads, heater and pump for my sump/ref. Does it sound like i might have some fowled equipment or does it sound about right.
Thanks,
Kyle

Ok thats what i figured
I have a via aqua 2600 in my sump i think it might be the problem it kept kicking off the breaker last night.
What pump would you recommend me go with.
Thanks for the reply,

That is what i had heard alot of people were using but i just saw a little giant on another site pretty cheap, it was rated at 1200gph. Would that be better?
One more question while someone is replying so fast:D , I have like 180lbs of lr would i have to have my filter on for a few days while i got a new pump or would the lr and powerheads do it.

Little Giants are good, are you looking for a pump to go in the water or outside the water. I beilieve little giants are external only pumps.
I dont have any filter, just live rock, sump and fuge.

thats what i meant sorry, my pump to my sump/fuge went out would the lr be enough filtration for a few days or do i need hook up an old emperor 280 i have, if that would even help.

Id hook up the old emperor for circulation alone, remove the filter pads,
If you have enough powerheads you wouldnt need it, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Well i think i would be safe, i am circulating the water 8-9 times an hour with my powerheads. Is that enough? I found a pump called Quiet One that has 1017gph at 10ft. head for $69.99, does that sound good? Which route would you go.

8 -9 x turnover would be plenty for short term. Ive heard the quite one pumps product a lot of heat, but are well made, IMO Id still go with a Mag Drive given the choice.

Is it drilled? Whats the capacity of the overflows and whats the capacity (flow rate not size) of the sump?

to tell you the truth i dont know, i built it. it has a 1" hose running from it to the sump and i put a 3/8" hose running from the skimmer box down through the 1" hose, it was syphoning about 650gph with the 3/8" so i thought i could change it to 1/2".

I would go with a mag 9.5 or a Mag 12, I would also put a ball valve on the return line so you could idal it down some if it is too strong.
