I've looked at so many vert sales sites lately but haven't seen any. Are they still obtainable? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? They're flame scallops that light up iblue nside.

Those are awesome, but really really hard to keep because of thier diet! I had one didnt live more than a month! I think they belong in the same category of moorish idols, and cleaner wrasses! IMHO! I see them here everywhere in Miami! If you get one GOOD LUCK!

Marine Snow will feed them well.
Had two for about a year now and love them.

Wow, a year is really good. The only people I know that had any success acclimated them slowly over a month or so to around 72 degrees to lower their metabolism, marine snow was not commercially available at the time. How much marine snow does yours eat?

ive had a regular flame scallop for about 6 months now. it may not be that long, but he still looks just as good as the day i got him, if not better.
in the wild they dont live that long anyway, so the bigger they are, the older they are so even if its getting enough food, it will most likely die soon anyway. so if you decide to buy one. look for the smallest one you can get.

I add Marine Snow to the tank about every other day.
I do water changes every 8 days at 10% so the water looks good too!
The flames look healthy and are jumping all over the tank every few days. Everyone thinks they are cool.
As far as acclimation goes, I knew they had to acclimated very slowly and I know I took my time. I just can't remember how long I actually took.

What I ment was they slowly lowered the tank temp after they were in there. You should see a 50 breeder 50 scallops swimming in it. Don't worry, they'd all get sold within 2 weeks tops. I dont remembered what we called this, but we put a bunch of lettuce in a tank of water with a good light and when it got all nasty we'd feed the scallops the water about twice a week.
