Well that is how we hook heater up to pools.A heater pump pulls more amps then a pool pump does and have had no fires doing this. Also not all houses run #12 romex. If the room/outlets/ceiling fans/lights are run off one breaker more then likely it run on a bigger wire. Its not pulling more then 120v.Some thing just have a higher load to get them going.
Hey brother if you can sleep easy at night, that's you. I prefer to do things the right(safe)way.

My installer is a contracter and know what wire will hold so I have no problem sleeping.

She ain't kiddin'! Imagine her fixing her own washing machine AND then standing in the tub making sure it worked. (then if that didn't work she was gonna let the neighbor kids "test" it out.) (insert winkie guy here)
I think we need a Tara's DIY corner here. Everything from laying tile, TRIPLE crown molding, installing new tolilets. She WILL get this.......I am sure of it.

You missed it love, we have since added ceiling fan installation.

YOu remember that washing machine!! I forgot all about that! I have since bought a front loader, and I like it OK. We passed the washer to our current tennants in the house.
Well, whatever I do, If I do end up changing the breaker for more amps, I will not pst it so as not to start an all out debate.
But rest easy all I doubt I'll need it. If my fridge is on that circuit then that's the ONLY thing on the circuit. Hopefully I'll be fine with what I have.
If not, I'll just run an extension cord out the window and over to the neighbors house.

other than a range plug #12 is the largest wire size in a house then it goes down to #14.also if you have a 20amp breaker does not mean you have 20a of power only 16a
