Ok boys and girls this was how my usual Thursday bull session at my LFS went.
“Gee that chalice looks sick it’s cupped up”.
“That’s not a chalice it’s a moon eye coral”
Now the only moon coral I know are of the Genus Favia. I did not think it was a moon but said if it was a moon and cupped that’s not a good thing. My LFS friend said ok how much you want to pay for the sick coral. I said $10 he said 25 and we settled on $15.75. With the promise I wound not come back crying in a week if it died.
Now I have a Favites sp (moon coral). The first pic down so I am sure it’s not a moon. In my tank it just did not look like a chalice as I first thought. So off to the dreaded books. I am now thinking it’s a Mycedium elephantotus (elephant nose).
What do you think?
