Elephant Snail

I first noticed this guy a few months ago and decided he was an elephant snail/slug. At that point he was the size of a quarter. Now he's two and a half to three inches long and two inches wide as a guess, since he stretches as he goes. He use to have a white shell on his back, but now it's not there. Just wondering if he still safe for my tank as he gets bigger and if he's really is an elephant snail/slug.

Doesn't look like an Elephant Slug to me.
When you saw the white, where was it?
It looks more like a Bubble Snail to me but I'd need better pics.

The white was on the center on his back and looked like the elephant slugs little shell. Sorry I couldn't get more pics... he's a fast little booger. :)

Fast is another clue. Scutus are never described as fast. Well, none I know of, there are possibly exceptions I've never heard of.
I still think it's some type of Bubble Snail. Most are reef safe but not all. If you've never noticed any damaged corals I wouldn't worry at all. It a very interesting animal. Quite unique.
It is definately not a Scutus.
