I live in Wisconsin too. Cold enough for you? I live in Cumberland. Wouldn't it be hyterical if you were my doctor!!!!!! Okay, down to serious stuff, I did at an ick treatment before....and things went bad for the water, good for the fish, but there are sooooo many things I did wrong that it is hard to tell what screwed up my water. Funny thing is, fish are still alive. Okay....recently I had a fish with ick and did not want to add the treatment....this was over the weekend, so I put the treatment in a jar with some water from the tank, caught the fish...(OH ya that was fun....not) and put him in the jar for 15 minutes. returned him to tank....he looked as if he would croak there and then....but he is fine now. I know this was a long shot, but I was at a point where I did what I had to do and I didn't have another method as our water was turned off due to frozen pipe repair.......oh I love Wisconsin....and the stores that carry water were closed. (I tend to do this stuff in the middle of the night for some unknown reason.......hmmmmmm.) Now....I would never recommend anything I do for others as I know not what I do, I am new and doing just about everything wrong. Life is good, a heathy tank would make if fabulous. hmmm.:happyfish

I do not live in Cumberland but I send my psychiatric patients to your local hospital when I have to commit someone! I have also eaten at the 5 o'clock club.
The preferred treatments for ich are hyposalinity or copper. If you are unable to do water changes, this is one of the few situations that copper might be preferred. Unfortunately, the freshwater dips and many other topical treatments primarily only remove the larger trophonts that are likely to fall off anyway. Most of the younger trophonts are protected in the slime layer of the fish.
Dips also do not remove the toments and other stages of ich which do not require a fish.
Where do you shop? It is too far for me to travel to Eau Claire or Minneapolis frequently so I got most of my fish from this website. I had several shipments last winter and never had a problem.
We're finally getting snow! :joy: Many times that will help insulate the ground so your pipes won't freeze again. Good Luck!

You must be north of here? Ya, that psych ward.....lately it's been an escape route for phych patients. My sister is an RN at the hospital and will not work in that ward, although I am considering it as a tech, I did a short stint as an EMT in Texas, don't wanna do that in a small town, don't wanna work on people I know....no thanks, I'd lose it. I was a psych major but baby's came...lol....now I'm just an artist and a writer and a mom, the mom part......whooo. busy. I am thinking you must be north of us. Eau Claire, not a great conveniance, nor are the cities, but considering where we live, it's an option to gain some sanity. I am a city girl at heart. Actually, in the 11 years I've been here I've only been to the 5 once. We do more stuff with friends at our houses, guess it's cuz we all have kids the same ages and it just works out good, besides...some of them live on really nice lakes!!!! Like the recent snowstorm? Geez, kids were mad that we had so much on a friday night, no snow day..lol. So, have you made it to the famous Rutabaga fest? I liked it when I was younger, but now I avoid it at all costs. If you ARE north of us....Lucky you, I love the towns more north....they have more to offer than this pot hole in the road. Nice to know we are well known for our looney bin though!!!!!! Nice 'writing' with ya!!!!

Actually, I had never even heard of the rutabage festival. However, it does not sound like something that I will go out of my way to attend. :notsure: Because I have to be available for obstetrics, I don't travel more than 1/2 hour away very often.
I do live to your north. However, every little town in the area has both its charms and its vices. You have to accept them both otherwise you will not be happy.

The rutabaga fest is more for young kids.....or should I say young adults who like to drink themselves into hugging the toilet all night...lol.....that was me a long time ago!!!! My favorite place to take a day away is around Spooner, I like the galleries and the book store....and my all time favorite is Duluth/superior. Spend a lot of time there in the summer, too cold in the winter! Can't get enough of the beaches and light houses. Once spent a week on Sand Island painting, all alone. It was scary, cold and windy, but very rewarding, would do it again in a split second. The shore has so many wonderful places I could spent the entire spring/summer and fall there. Not going more than 1/2 hour away....oh gosh, I would go crazy. I can't sit still that long. Of course, I've traveled all my life and moved more times than most people would even believe, so I guess it's in my blood. I am an adventurer. In fact I leave soon for Taos to visit friends, can't wait. I love NM and it lends itself well to painting after painting. I hope to do a couple shows there too. I have a lot of my art north of here, but not sure exactly where you are, have an idea, but not sure and am certainly not going to post it. Thanks for the response, enjoy this warm spell we are having!!!!!!!!!!
