Emeral crabs and snails getting eatin

Ok so when ever we get snails or crabs they end up getting eatin not in the first day or so but in the first week i stated to see that our sails shells would be laying all around the tank and no snail in side and our crabs just disapering so could there be anything in our talk that is eating them?

Probably a mantis shrimp.

They will kill pretty much anything. Snails, hermit crabs, fish, whatever is available. They are mostly nocturnal and produce a clicking sound. They are pretty difficult to catch from what I understand. Run a search on this website and try some of the methods listed. Good luck!

ya we had one of those but i got it out

Maybe you have more than one. What other inhabitants are in the tank?

we have
1 peperment shrimp
1.banded shrimp
2 sea stars
for right now

If all of your water parameters are in an ideal range I would suspect you have another mantis shrimp if your snails and hermits keep disappearing.
