crabs are a gamble, but with emeralds I think the odds are in your favor. I've personally had/have 3 of them and they have never bothered anything (unfortunately not even the hair algae--just diatom and detrius). but, some just have a mean streak and will eat anything.
i have 2 of them now because my buddy realized he was picking on his polyps and his feather dusters so i took it back if starts go pick on my mushrooms he going into my qt tank

Mine ate a very tiny mushroom sometime yesterday. This is what the mushroom used to be like :
