emerald crab behavior

I had 5 emerald crabs and then today noticed one was ripped to shreds, so I am down to 4. I was wondering what happened to him - then tonight I noticed that 2 emerald crabs were fighting with each other. I don't know if this is some sort of male dominance thing or what. Another emerald was close by watching, not sure if that was a female.
Dunno....
thought I'd see if anyone else has noticed any of this behavior.

Curious to hear any opinions on your post...
I bought two emerald crabs a few weeks ago. When I turned them loose, the both ran off into the rocks. Since then, I have only ever seen one at any given time. I think one disappeared but have no idea if the other one killed him or what.

I had two and was down to one in a few days. I read it's survival of the fittest w/ those things. The dominant one will kill the weaker of the two.

food competition will cause them to fight but if they are well feed I have had several together in a tank wiht no problems with aggresion towards each other.
could it be a molt that the fish or hermits shreded?
