Emerald Crab Q

Was wondering how many gallons per emerald crab?
I just bought a small one for my 10 gallon
long and the thing is probably one of the
coolest things I have ever seen. Crawls
around everywhere, eats all the algae off the
rocks and sand. Haven't seen it disturb other
crabs or anything. I love it. But was wondering
if I can put more in there?

Hmmmmm...seems I heard somewhere that recommended rate is one per 10 gals......may be wrong there but that seems to be how I remember(thats my story and I'm stickin to it)......I do have 2 in each of my 55's....and I agree they are kewl dudes to watch and mine do a great job on nuiseance algae....and they've never been a problem to my other reef friends.....

Hmmm... Guess I'll stick to this one for now
then. Even though I REALLY want to put in
another :) Anyway, I have scarlets in there
too. Are there any other crabs you would
recommend for the tank?

Blue-try it, get another one and see if they'll pair off. If they pair off they're great to watch. I have a 55 and I have 3 in there. The twins and the old guy......the old guy paired off with one of the twins. They hang out together all the time.

No one ever has Sally Lightfoots around here :(
That's the one thing I've been looking for
until I got the Emerald. Do Lightfoots come
out in the light more frequent than Emeralds?

If you have fish in your tank beware of sally lightfoots. They like some other types of fish will sometimes go crazy and begin killing things in your tank. I had a sally lightfoot kill 6 fish before figuring out who it was. The things are fast and hard to catch if you ever want to remove them as well. After two days (almost 8 hrs each day) trying to catch mine I finally got lucky and was able to

him after he killed about $100 worth of fish.

Have 2 in my 55 reef. Becareful though as they will eat coraline algae if there is not enough for them. Used to have 3 but moved one to my refugium as they were eating to much coraline and I have 125 lbs in a 55gal.They are cool though. Kind of freaked me out the first time I saw one of them open the lower part of his shell and clean his insides. ;)
