Emerald Crab Question

I was lurking around my tank in the eve with flashlight in toe.. and noticed an emerald crap w/his bottom plate wide open with small particles flying out. Is this some form of digestive excrement or reproductive exrement?? Just never seen it before.

This is just a guess but I think if it was coming from the bottom plate (whatever it's called) it probably was some type of reproductive activity. I've eaten alot of boiled crabs in my day and I know the shape of the plate etc. is how you tell males from females so I would assume this houses their reproductive organs.

it probably wasnt tank bread and thinks its still in the wild, it is probably sendout sperm to find a mate
