Emerald Crab torn apart

Hello all,
I have had 2 Emerald crabs in my tank now for over a month and never had any problems but last night I noticed something alarming. The smaller of the 2 has 2 legs on his left AND his left claw missing. I found the claw but the legs are missing that I can see. He seems to be doing ok right now and he is eating and moving but I am curious what did this to him. It is not the snowflake because he is in another tank right now and has been for 3 weeks. Listed below is what is in my tank right now....with exception to the snowflake....any help would be appreciated.

I've seen my four stripe Damsel nip at my emerald, so that is probably your answer.

Hi! My friend had an Emerald crab, hers died though, because here banded shrimp (I think that was the name!) it murderd her crab, because she wasnt feeding the shrimp right, so it cut the crab's legs of, and ate them, and she found the left-over legs (minus the claw)all over the aquarium floor.

My guess would be 1 of the damsels. I started with damsels and quickly removed them. They are IMO a pain.

My guess is the other crab. As long as you keep the water quality very good and feed him, the missing appendages will grow back. HTH, Bo

well i have 2 emerald crabs in my 10 GALLON NANO
and i haven't had any problems with them..
BUT i also have a unsual agressive shrimp!!LOL
but no problems.. actuall yi'm thinking may be the other scarlet crabs because mine get quite aggressive with each other! but that is a strange case.. hmmmmm... i dunno, just a guess...

I have 5 emeralds in my tank and they never bother each other. Maybe it had a rough molt. I have never had this happen with the emeralds but have had a coral banded and cleaner shrimp loose legs and claws and in a few days they grew back. I was amazed when one day I saw the CBS missing one of its big claws and the very next day it was grown back the same size as the other claw.

i HAD two but they disappeared leaving behind only their exoskeleton... of course that isn't the only thing that has disappeared... i had a firefish disappear, no sign... not in floor either
