Emerald crab

Alright my crab is always hideing and last night I saw him the open and this moring I saw or what I thought was him upside down. Now Im almost sure he molted cause I read what I could find about it and that sounded like it so I pulled it out to make sure and their was no whole so I crushed it and nothing was inside. So my question is that the molted skelton? I would post a picture but I lost it in the trash can.

Sounds like a molt to me, my emeralds molt and then you don't see much of them for awhile to their shell hardens up.

Mine does the same thing. I believe after they molt they really try to avoid the light.
