My emarald crab died the other day. I have had 2 of these since fall of 07. The first one died like 8 monthes later, got this one back in the spring of 08, and he just died. Does anyone know their life cycle or what could be killing them off? I have NO other problems in my tank!!! thanks

We've suffered the same experience several times.. Purchased an emerald crab - which lived awhile and would then be found dead.... We couldn't figure it out... The emerald would appear to be thriving - and we never witnessed anything else in the tank bothering it.... and yet the emerald's remains would be found eventually each and every time!!! Sometimes we've had the emerald several months - and I believe the longest period of time was almost a year..... Not one has ever appeared to ailing in any way - yet death would come.... We have wondered if our large hermit might be the "murderer" - but we've never seen any skirmishes, so we're just not sure.... Just recently, my husband and I have decided not to try any more - because although we love the emerald's presence, we can't justify any more death sentences just because we like the way they look....

ahh very true. i do understand, but for about 10 bucks a pop, and 25% off cause your a fish club member, its something that you cannot pass up. It seems to me that they will die reguardless of what you do, they will die in the store, or at home...take ya pick. But I do understand what your are saying!!!
