Emerald crabs are really strong! HELP!

Ok so I went overboard as I've said before, with my cleaning crew. I have 16 emerald's in my tank and I wanted to bring some of them to my LFS to trade for ?. I saw one sitting on a rock so I reached in & grabbed him. Well, he held on to that rock like he was cemented in place. If I would have pulled any harder I would have taken the whole rock structure down. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get them out of there without ruining my tank? He was seriously like Arnold Schwarzencrab! :notsure:

You can try using something like a turkey baster to squirt them with water, not hard though. But they really hate strong currents and should let go pretty easily :)

Even if I'm holding him at the time? I have 110 lbs of rock in a 90 gal. and grabbing them when their not on or in the rock isn't easy. Maybe I need to do a 3 am vigil???? Are they more active/wandering at night? Hmmmmm

Just get a net and and just push them with it. They do get scared easily and should let go.

Thanks, how warm (temp.) should the water be? I don't want to hurt him. I just need a few to move out of here.

When I got mine from the LFS, they just held on with a steady pressure and it finially let go, all legs intact. It took a few minutes but it did finially let go. Good luck.

I just waited around until they went on the sand bed. Depending on the amount of rock this could be a matter of days or a matter of weeks.
