About 2 months ago, i had a few bubble aglea pods growing on my rock. I bought 3 emerald crabs. They took care of the bubble aglea. Now I suspect the crabs are eating my zoos. has anybody had a problem with these guys, what else could be doing it?? peppermint shrimp?? i don't know what it is. I will say that my emerald crabs hang out pretty close to my zoos that have been eaten. :help: :notsure:

I've never had a issue with emeralds bothering my zooanthids...or any other coral for that matter. I'd look for predatory snails on your zooanthid colonies before I'd suspect the emeralds.

Could be either, Crabs will eat what ever they want/can. Esp. if there hungry. The shrimps too.

My peppermint shrimp went to town on my tank - I would suspect that critter. My shrimp even chased all the cleaner shrimp out from their ledge...he was a mean bugger in my tank.

Did the emerald cut AND eat the coral, or did it just cut the coral?

I have a large emerald and TONS AND TONS of zoanthids. Mine has never caused a problem, but that isn't to say that it might not one day. I'd be looking for zoanthid eating nudibranchs if I were you. They are really tiny and seriously hard to spot, but that is the more likely culprit.

I have never had the first p roblem with my emerald crabs either.......And my peppermint is a big sissy, and stays in a corner behind the rock 99.9% of the time.

I suspect your peppermint might have actually been a camelback shrimp. Peppermints are usually pretty friendly. Camelbacks aren't so friendly though.

I had two emeralds in my 55 gal. and i actually watched the larger of the two ripping pieces of my green star polups off of a rock and proceed to eat them.... needless to say that emerald is now gone.
