emerals crabs

Mine did. I had 1 big one that sat out front. My other 2 disappeared only to resurface briefly and disappear. Total time hiding = 3 months.

I have one in my 55 and he hides very well. Look for him at night that seems to be when mine is most active. just my .02

I got one for my 20 about 3 weeks ago and was told that I will never see him unless I looked at night. Not true. He climbs around all day in plain sight and picks at the rock and sand. I'm so happy I bought him

They do hide well. We have a couple and they stay in holes during most of the daya but when the big lights go off and the sun begins to set, the little dudes come out to eat. We see em in the evning and when we put in algae sheets for the angel and tang. They are cool tho, brilliant green. :)

I've got 10 emeralds in my 75, most ranging from the size of a quarter to smaller than my little fingernail.
The bigger - the bolder.
The tiny one's are very shy.
I agree with Mike. I have one very large emerald that is almost always visible.

I have never heard of them eating coralline. They may seem like they are eating it but they are actually scraping film algea off of it. There are other crabs such as sally lightfoot that have been known to eat coralline.

As for everything its a 50/50 chance. Mine may have just been "scraping film algea off of it" as stated by mlm, but it just got out of hand for me. I had white spots left wherever it went, and the rocks looked aweful. Since has been returned.
That being said, lrswls, that is how I always found mine.....just looked for new "cleaned" spots. But it was a good hider, drove me nuts!
