Both Morays are still just fine...weird.
Nothing wierd about the eels still being alive. My eels have lived through all of my beginner mistakes including high ammonia spikes and them getting out of the tank. That's why I love them so much, they are bullet-proof.

Oh, I wasnt too concerned about the eels...they've lived through much worse. But, having a Dragon, I'm more concerned now than I used to be.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Not rushing anything, have you decided what you might put in the tank since you lost the sailfin? How is everything else doing?

I'm not planning on putting anything, in the 90, to replace the Sailfin. The only other fish, that were in there, are the Dragon and Whitemouth. They're both doing great...both ate again, today and are showing no signs of distress.
The 90 isnt big enough for the fish I had in there, but I had no choice, since the 200 is sitting in the garage. The 90 was just a temp. holding tank until I get the 200 back up and going.
Once the 200 is back up and going and the Dragon and Whitemouth go back in there, I have plans for the 90, already:
6 x Splendid Garden Eels (Gorgasia preclara)
2 x Rouge Waspfish (Amblyapistus taenianotus)
And, another species of Scorpionfish x 2. I havent decided the species yet.

That would be one cool tank. I really wish I went with an aggresive tank initially. I have a 95gal FOWLR same as 90 just an inch or so taller. I have 2clowns,ln buttefly, lmb, and a royal gramma+cleaner shrimp. I wish I went aggresive so I could have a trigger, an eel, 2 fuzzy lions. Guess I might just have to work the good old allowance and get another tank ...Would a valentini puff work in my tank or would it nip at the fish, I don't care bout the shrimp, I got it because my sister wanted one.

AW, I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I didn't see it asked anywhere, but could have the eels tried to attack the sailfin perhaps, scaring the sailfin to death? I don't know how aggressive your eels are, but I am just trying to guess as to what might have happeend. Regardless, I am sorry that you lost your fish.

Thanks, lion_crazz.
The Sailfin had been in the tank for more than 6 months and neither the Dragon or Whitemouth ever messed with her. In fact, she would bully them around.
This is one of those mysteries that I just cannot explain.

AW2, Sorry to hear about the sailfin! Was this the first time you had used that paticular pc of salmon? Did you rinse the pc off before you put it in the tank? I assume that you feed raw fish? Just thinking that there MAY have been something in or on the fish fillet that the tang injested. Maybe some paracite or worm in the salmon? Don't really know but just thought I'd throw that out.
In my younger years I worked in several seafood/fish restaurants and trust me there is some nasty stuff that fresh fish can carry.

Very sorry to hear about your sailfin AW2. It sucks that sometimes we have to uproot our stable systems for our own reasons. I think it's clear that although this death is a mystery, it is related to the fact that your fish had to be transferred from a larger stable environment to a temporary home. Obviously there is a lot of stress involved with this and the tang would be the most vulnerable.
On another note, it is telling that you have had a loss. Even the most experienced and skilled aquarists do suffer occasional losses in this hobby. Everyone from you and myself to Squidd, Ophiura, Beth and everyone else will have failures. And unfortunately most of these deaths are not due to old age. Taking fish from their natural environment and confining them to aquariums is still a young and inexact science. I've said this b4, this hobby can be very humbling.
There's my deep thought for the day.

My tank clouded up really bad about a month ago..could hardly see the back. I didnt lose any fish and all the levels tested fine...was the weirdest thing....LFS thinks it was some sort of bacterial bloom and said that something as small as a snail dying could trigger one. I also cleaned all my filters at one time with a 30 gallon water change and I read somewhere that that may have triggered it too. Reguardless it cleared up in a matter of a week with no special chemicals. Everything made it through. Sorry for your loss. Hope this helps in some small way.

AW2, sorry about your loss. i don't have any further suggestions than what have already been covered. it's tough losing a pet, but it sounds like you've been pretty successful otherwise. good luck with what you do in the future, and keep us posted on the 200 gal.
