What do you guys feed your juvenile emperor angels? Was offered one for $20 and I'm very tempted. Only problem I forsee is that my other fish are carnivores and this will be the only non-aggresive, non predatory fish.

how small are we talking? Emp eat meaty foods. They need meaty foods. They just 100% need sponge based foods as well.

A healthy Angel will eat pretty much anything you offer it, but as stated they do need sponge in their diet, there are a few companies that make frozen "angel formula" food. They also need the occasional greens IME.

I had a Juvi Emp of the same size. I feed mine 4 times a day.
Algaes of mixed kinds.
Mysis Shrimp
NLS Pellets
Then at night Id feed sponge based foods or sponges bought from a coral store.

You can see the size difference between him an dthe clowns. They were just about the same size at around 2.5 inches

I bought a 150. Started it up. Realized my small ass house was too small and it was just too big. I sold it and kept the 75 running. I sold the Emp and Kole together. I regret it. That fish was so personable. He would come up and say hi. Swim around the tank and follow my hand. He was like a dog with fins. I will get a bigger tank and get another Emp angel. By far my favorite fish I have ever owned. The guy who bought him loves him. He is getting bigger and bigger. I sold him to a guy with a huge set up. Hopefully he can live out his life there. I eventually will buy a 8 foot set up and get an Emp as the main fish with a couple smaller angels and maybe some dwarfs. They are by far the best big fish out there IMO.

A long list of foods....New Life Spectrum, Formula 1 and 2 pellets all mixed together....Frozen-PE Mysis, Hikari Mysis, Brine, Angel Formula (I think Hikari and San Fransisco brand), clams, squid, blood worms....I put a sheet of seaweed in every other day. Mine was fully Juvi colors when I got him, he is basically complete adult coloration now (18 months later).
Thanks for the pics Crypt Keeper, didn't you trade your Emperor for a Garter Snake or something.

Nice pics! IMO,raising one of these magnificent fish from juvi to adult is one of the most rewarding experiences in this hobby/addiction (next to successfully removing damsels).

Beautiful fish Crypt Keeper, you talked me into it. I already made the arrangement to pick this guy up. Will be trying to rehome a couple of my agressives asap, Huma trigger and Panther grouper, to make room for this guy.

I've succesfully removed damsels, about 30+ at last count. No problem with these guys in my tank
