emperor scale loss

my tank is 150gal established for five years, i have had a young emperor for five months now, he was very tiny when i got him and he fed right away and seemed to settle in nicely, i have a yellow tang, blue damsel , maroon clown and cleaner wrass in as well, my little emp lost some of his scales on his face area early on and although i have given a varied diet, added plenty of vitamins and done many water changes none of the scales have come back, can anything be done to help him? my latest test showed ph 8.2, nitrites zero, nitrates 10 , i have kept my sg at 1.023 for ever and temp at 78, these are the figures i was advised when i first started and i have not had any real problems until now, all the fish are eating well no arguing and no real bullying, except every now and again when emp realises he is getting larger and he chases one of the others about, but not for long, thanks for listening, malmar

This sounds like head and lateral line erosion [HLLE] which is mostly seen on angelfish and tangs. Are any other angels or tangs in your tank effected?
What type of setup do you have? Reef? FO? Etc.?
What supplements are you using? Zoe and Zoecon are the supplements of choice to help treat this disease. What are you using for vegetables to feed the angel? Are you using a grounding probe? Is the condition getting worse or is pretty much the same?

my tank is a fish only,i am adding a double dosing of vitamix plus, i have a ground probe and all other fish are fine, i feed romaine lettice and a generous amount of sheet algie, i am so puzzled about this as it happened very quickly and then stopped he is the same now as he was three months ago, thanks for caring, malmar

thanks for your attention terry,i am not sure what spiraling is, i have seen mention of it in prepared foods, i will certainly try your advice, do you suggest that i blend the vegatable items and mix with the zoe or zoecon? is this mix in addition to the basic pellet and flake food i presently use? i really hope it helps, i love my fish the yellowtail blue i have had six years and the maroon clown is five i forgot to mention i also have a flame angel he is a two year newcomer, thanks again for your advice, i will let you know of any improvement, malmar
