Empty 125g tank

Alright, i have an empty 125g tank that i was thinking about making it a sps and clams tank. The thing is i'm really not sure about what filters i should use, and the hood for this tank is going to take awhile to save for. I want to go with 3 175 watt MH and some PC's for it. I want to do things slow and steady. How much LS should be put in it? I am going to put about 100 pounds of fiji live rock in there as should as i get the lighting up and going. I have a 20g that is a reef tank now, should i just convert that into a sump for the 125?
Any tips or comments are welcomed thanks.

I would think of filtration first! Refugium?
Do you need to drill the tank etc.
Do a search or find a persons reef that you like and see what they have and go from there.

Is there any way to make a refugium without drilling your tank? The tank is tempered glass and i am sure would crack if i started drilling it.
