my am is at 0 and nitrite at 0 and nitrates are dropping, i have brown algae on the ls and lr and i talked to someone and they said it was due to the high nitrates still and a phosphate problem is this the case?? :help: and if so how can i help fix the problem. does it need to be dropped or risen? i was also wondering if i did a 10% water change would this help?? or is it time to bring in the clean up crew and will they survive??

sounds like diatoms. diatoms can show up from using tap water or a tank cycling or new lights. if your using tap water i would change to RO. i buy distilled water from wlmart for 64 cents. there are snails that will feed on them and also hermits like to feed on them too.

i am using RO water but i did just upgrade my lights last week that could be the prob. would it be alright to add the clean up crew before cycle is over without affecting the crew or the cycle???

If you saw a spike in you amonia, trates and trites and now there at 0 you sould be ok. You also can try feeding your tank with fish food and if all stays ok your good to go, Put the clean ups in. I am in the middle of my cycle on my new 240gall I think it will take about a month, wish mine was done.
