So I've not been paying enough attention to my baby engineer (like 2-3 inch). Tank is 56 gal others in there are 3 damsels (yellow tail blues, im doing a mostly damsel tank...no worries).
Anyway. He used to hang out by a pile of rubble rock in the back center of the tank behind the main rocks, but he'd swim all over the place honestly, very very active fish. He also didnt dig much, but he did go all the way to the glass under a soccer ball size dead acro head I have, he loved zig zaggin thru the branches.
This morning I go down to feed before I go to sleep (I'm just about go to bed now, as I work nights) and I see no trace of the engineer. Now I know my 4 hermits (2 red leg, 1 blue leg, 1 scarlet) could probably finish a fish, but this guy was healthy and active so I dont think he got caught or died of disease. I checked the floor, nothing (i have a canopy but its open in the rear).
Only other thing I can think of is my PVC overflow, but i dont know if he'd honestly try that. Its only 3/4 PVC, and its flowing fine so hes not stuck, I dont see him in the sump but that doesnt mean he's not in there.
What are your recommendations? Do they bury in the sand at all ? I dont see any holes and i just stirred the sand probably more than I should have (brought up a bit of the black sand from the bottom of the bed).
Thanks guys!
