ok in a month or 2 will start getting corals for my 30 gallon. i just bought a coralife 10,000k 24 in bulb with rare color enhancing phosphors. 20 watt 360 degree output. will this be enough for corals?
i have to return it tomorrow cuz one of the poky metal things is missing so i am gonna trade it for a new one.

Yes I whole heartedly agree unless you want to kill a bunch of living animals and waste tons of money don't do it. Take the money and invest in some VHO's or PC's and then get rid of the strip lights and you will be good to go.

I agree with what was stated above. The corallife bulbs are T12 and not produce much intensity.

What does that consist of?

I would first start out with the zoanthids and mushrooms. From there, if they're thriving, you could move onto the large polyped scleractinians (LPS), such as the Euphyllia sp. (frogspawn, hammar, etc.) Remember to go slow, and make sure you corals are not just living, but thriving.
Take Care,
Graham :)

* Cooling fans built into this unit! The fans are positioned on the top of the fixture (blowing upward), not on the sides.

* The optional mounting legs will raise the unit 1 1/2" high over the top of the tank, and the legs can expand to fit 2.5" longer than the unit itself. In other words, this 30" unit can be mounted on a 32.5" long tank, with the mounting legs installed.
* The mounting legs can fit tanks smaller than the unit's length, since they mount in a channel that runs the entire length of the fixture.

I have a total of 249w PC on my 29 & it does great with softies & some LPS. Much less might be marginal IMO.

oh sorry i didnt read the brain, i was wondering about those as well. Are they hard to keep? I have 130W over a 28 gallon. Would that be enough for a brain? No intentions of hi-jacking, just wondering.
