I know I sound like a broken record, but seriously, get Scott Michael's "Aquarium Sharks and Rays" at your local bookstore or online someplace. It's pretty cheap used through Amazon.
I flipped through it for a couple hours at my local bookstore, it is a MUST READ for anyone even thinking of keeping sharks/rays in captivity.

Agreed, if you double some of his recommendations then you would be getting closer to the correct size. I have no problem with newbies asking questions, my problem is that many seem to want some quick answers without doing any work. This is defintely not the way to approach shark keeping.

I didn't look at his reccomendations much, but was extremely intrigued by his sections on general shark biology and disease identification/causes. Definitely a good trouble-shooting guide for shark-keeping aquarists.

Absolutely. The guy definately knows his stuff. I wish there were more reliable sources in print out there though. That book is the only one I have found definitavely for elasmos.
