Hello all,

I have a 150 Gallon saltwater aquarium set up for approx 3 years now, and have been in the saltwater keeping for approx 5 years. The aquarium is Glass, and is about 72" Long, by 32" high, and 24" deep. The lighting set up I have is a 72" Aquaticlife Compact Florescent light fixture which has two 34" 96 W 460/460 nm Lamps, two 34" 96 W 700+ nm Lamps, and 6 Lunar LED's, with a built in timer. I just bought the light setup not quite a year ago, and I know that people are getting out of the compacts, but I like the fact that it is all packed into one very nice lighting system, and has a built in timer for each lighting. I am wanting to get a Heteractis Magnifica Anemone in my aquarium, but am not sure if my lighting will be able to support one, even if I place the anemone on the highest point in the aquarium. What are the opinions of keeping one of them with the lighting that I have? Is that light sufficient enough for my aquarium? I have a Fluval FX5 running as my main filter, along with a 150 Pro Clear wet/dry filter, which
I replaced the Bio Balls with small chunks of Live Rock. The wet/dry filter has a built in protein skimmer, which is what I use. Is the Fluval FX5 canister filter, and the wet/dry filter enough to have for filters on the aquarium? At the moment all I have is one cheap power head which can be bought at Wal-Mart for around 15 dollars. I am looking at getting some Hydor Koralia Powerheads for the aquarium, but am not sure on how many to get, and which size to get. I was thinking about getting a set of 2 Koralia # 6 which give off 2200 GPH. I need opinions on the Koralia Powerheads, if they are the way to go or not, and if so how many to get for my aquarium, and also where would the best placement spots be in the aquarium. I have approx 160 lbs of Live Rock in the aquarium, approx 75 lbs gravel. For livestock in the aquarium, I have, 1 Yellow Tang, 1 Pacific Blue Tang, 1 Naso Tang, 1 Mandarin Drogonette, 2 Purple Fire Fish, 2 False Percula Clown Fish, 1 Three Stripped Damsel, 1 Royal Gramma, Snails, Hermit Crabs, 1 Chocolate Chip Starfish. I would really appreciate some opinions on my tanks equipment, and about the lighting with the anemone, and the choice of Koralia Power Heads. Thank You!

Are you sure you have a 150G tank????? My 225G is 72 X 30 X 24....so I don;t see how your 150 could be 72 X 32 X 24

you have gravel in your tank or sand?

You will not be able to keep any type of anemone with that lighting....does not matter where you put it....they go where they want anyway.

Koralias are good powerheads....I would go with more and smaller so you can place them around the tank....maybe a Koralia evolution 1400, and 2 1050's to start with

do you have a picture of your current set up???

Hello,

Thank you for your input. I was off on the tank dimentions, it is 72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 28 1/2. I have the Ocean Direct Live Sand in my aquarium, however it is not fine sand, it is more like a fine gravel, I would rather have fine sand for the aquarium. That is sad to hear the lighting system I have will not support an anemone, as i was really wanting one for my clownfish. I think I will go with your advice on the Koralia Powerheads, and get a few smaller ones and spread them around in the tank than to get 2 large ones. I do not have photographs yet of my set up, I will take some of the tank, and the setup and post them on here. Thanks!
