Equipment for QT?

I have a 29 gal that I plan on using for my QT. I was just wondering what equipment to use as far as filtration, substrate, how much flow is needed, etc. Should I put some live rock in there too? I was planning on getting an Emperor 400 filter and 30 lbs. of Aragonite sand for the bottom.

I would just have a HOB filter, stock lights, some plastic tubing for the fish to hide in (maybe plastic plants), one or two PH, and that is it. You could put aragonite on the bottom, but it serves no purpose. Usually in a QT tank if you actually have to treat your QT tank any hyposalinity treatment or medication will either kill what bacteria is on the rocks or make it to where you wouldn't want those rocks back in your DT.
Hope this helps - there are tons of ways to do it, just make sure there is filtration and flow.

Also, I've heard that it is a good idea to have the hang on back filter actually functioning on your main tank for a bit of extra filtration which doesn't hurt, but to also have a "veteran" filter so to speak ready to go whenever it needs to be used for quarantining. Putting aquarium backing also helps the fish feel more secure so I've read. Godd luck

My 29g QT has a Penguin 150 filter, small Visi-therm heater, and a Maxi-jet 400. There's some PVC and a fake piece of coral, but that's it.

I don't actually have my DT tank ready yet. It will be a 150 gal FOWLR so the QT will be the first and only thing that has ever had water in it.
