I need some input please. I have a 125 gallon tank that I am about to set up, and need some advise and suggestions on what kind of filters to use with this? Any experience or advice good or bad would be great.
Thanks
There are many options . If it were mine I would run it like I run my 150 gal reef.I would get the largest protien skimmer you can afford . I would get 4 maxijet 1200's power heads. Get a nice size sump and run a mag 24 pump return. Lighting is up to you I run VHO's it depends on what you like vho or MH I keep all types of coral with no problem with vho's some people here really like MH lighting and there great I just dont like the heat that they produce and electric they use.I do however like the shimmer in the water MH lighting does.I also run a refrugium next to my sump that is just an extra you my want later. Here is pic of my tank.
I have alot of green algae growing with my pink/red. There are alot of bubbles that are stuck in it. Would that be bubble algae? What will get rid of it, its also very hairy??
A cleaner crew would help .What type of water are you using hair algea generally come from not so good water.Bubble algea looks llike little balls they are hard about 1/4 in or so you need to pick them out with out busting them. They can spread very fast action is not taken.
Ok - I am very releaved to hear that about the bubble algae. My bubbles are more like air bubbles that are filtering out of the sand bed.
I have ordered more cleaners are mine are diminished.
I put in tap the last few times that I topped up. I normally use filtered though.
You never what to use use tap water you need distilled or ro/di water.Your cleaners deminished that is sign of low salinity make sure it is above .021 or they will keep dieing.Did you treat the tap water in any way?
