Do a search on here for cayno bacteria. You will come up with the many ways that people have used to battle/get rid of it.

it should be here sometime this week. Will changing my lights help or should I hold off on them for now?

The lights are not going to help with cayno but you will never regret a lighting upgrade. An RODI unit is also a necessarily IMO.

I am also curious as to what type of flow is in this tank.
Cyano is caused by 1 or more of the conditions being true.
Low flow or low flow area
Infrequent water changes. (this is to include Testing of the water.)
Over feeding
Bad/old/Not enough lighting.
Non ro/di water (Debatable by some people)
What type of power heads do you have in this tank?
