Euro-Reef and Gunk ?

My Euro has been running for about 3-4 days and I'm getting a whole bunch of water in the collection cup. About how long should it take before it starts to really skim? Is there anything that I should do / be concerned about?
Thanks!

Took about a week before my euroreef started to produce a thick brown gunk. The only adjustments to make are the return pipe height (which I run almost fully extended) and the water depth in the sump.

Hey there Nacl. I got mine the same day that you got yours. I cleaned my collection cup out last night. It did not have any water in it, but it did have the beginning of some "gunk". I would raise the prefilter part like the manual shows. I have mine high enough so that the bubbles reach 2-2 1/2 inches into the cup portion. That way, water does not flow into the cup and neither does the foam. If you have any problems, let me know. Or call euro-reef (their # is in the manual.)
Good luck.

Cool. Thanks for the replies! I just adjusted my riser so it doesn't collect all water. Hopefully this thing will get going soon... can't wait to see all the 'gunk'.
cheers!

I waited a day before I rose the riser a few inches. I keep 4-6 inches of water in the sump where the skimmer sits.
Every time I look at the skimmer, I am amazed how well crafted it is... It blows the Berlin Red Sea models away!
