Euro-reef and Phosban reactor.

Finally got my cs6-1 hooked up and in my new 20l sump, also ordered a phosban reactor. I have read that the phos reactor's can cause rtn etc, so should I run it all the time or just a little bit a week. Read the thread about rowaphos, but didn't know if it was the same for phosban? Also, will the water in the reactor stay good for awhile w/o being used? Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Kyle

yea its the same as phosban......but i think it is jsut how you use it......if changed every month and not to much used then it seems to work very well.........i use about 150g of the media in a reactor and change every month......also i run 16oz of carbon that i change every two weeks

my main concern is the fact that i have read that it can make your sps rtn, and brown/bleach out. because of fast reduction of po4

Have you considered dripping Kalk into your skimmer? This will reduce the PO4 without the worry of running a phosban reactor.
I had a reactor and it did eliminate my phosphates without any RTN, but the sps in that tank is minimal. It also became a bit of a pain to maintain.(At least in the lazy summer whgn I only have about half an hour a day with my tanks)

They key is if you're worried about RTN is to run LOW FLOW not LOW VOLUME of media. The reason is the media can absorb "x" amount of phosphate so a small amount of Rowa can still absorb quite a bit of phosphate given enough flow. The phosphate absorbtion is controlled by the volume of water in which you push through the media, the media will continue to absorb media till its saturated.

KPK,
I have been running rowaphos for about 6 months now. I have had no RTN. I would not start out with the reactor. I would use the mesh bag that rowa includes for the first month. Then I would hook up the reactor and slowly aclimate your tank to the desired amount.

I have already started using the reactor. Should I just turn the flow way down or turn it off and only let run a few hours a day? Then more and more?

I'd just turn the flow as low as you can get it and still have the media gently fluidized. Too low flow for too long will turn it into a brick.

Ok, thats what i did. It's just gently rolling in the chamber.
Thanks for the help
