Euro Reef Question

Tired of messing with my sea clone and am looking into buying a Euro reef skimmer. Euro Reef's web site acts like the new es series is just as good as the cs series but at a reduced price. Are they just as good? What are your opinions?

I'm sure the guys with the ES skimmers will tell you there just as good. Their pretty much a new skimmer so its probably going to be a few years before you get the answer your looking for. IMO, they probably work as good but not built as well.

I have an es 5-3 and it works great!!!

And it works just as good because it has the same exact pump
as the cs. It is still built with precision just a lower grade of
plastic.

The ES5 can't be compared to any other ER skimmer because they don't make any other models with 5" tubing. So its for SURE that it doesn't work as good as the bigger CS models. Also, doesn't the ES5 come with the Sedra 3500 pump? The only CS model that comes with that tiny pump is the CS6-1 model.
I'm sure the ES6 and 8 models will compare a little better then the ES5's. Not knocking them, just pointing out the facts

Macs probably dead on about the differences in the es vs cs series skimmers. All I have experience with is the CS6-2...and its a outstanding piece of equipment. Bottom line is any euroreef skimmer will be a improvement over your sea clone model!Just take care to select a model that you'll be able to upgrade with....I bought mine for use on a 55 display but intended to upgrade to a large display in the future. I'm confident my CS6-2 will be able to skim my larger display with no problems.

I have an ES6-2+, and I have absolutely no complaints. The bottom line is the ES series use the same pumps, same needle wheels, same footprints, same everything, EXCEPT, they are made from cheaper plastic. That's why they're not as expensive. I've seen many CS series in use, and I don't see any difference in performance, they may just last a year or two longer. HTH

I just upgraded to an ES from a prizm. I love it. Mine is great because it is only 20" high and fits well under my 55g.

Thanks guys,
Sounds to me like for the money I could save a little by buying the ES series and step into a bigger skimmer then I can warrant spending on a cs series. Thanks for the replies.

Building myself a euroreef style skimmer from extruded acrylic. With the cost of all the supplies and the sedra 5000 with the needle wheel it's gonna cost me about $120. What do the CS series go for? The acrylic will be 6" by 28"
