Evaporating water

I have a 55 gall reef and it seems like i have to add 5gal of R/O water every 3-5 days. Are my lights causing to much evaporation? Its not really an issue b.c I have an R/O system, but its becoming a pain to have to add in new water to the sump all the time. Does this cause the fish and or corals stress?

that seems like a lot of top off to me, do you have glass tops? is your tank in the direct path of an ac vent/fan?

When water evaporates it leaves the salt behind so after it evaporates there will be a rise of salinity or specific gravity. My tank rises 0.001 every day from evaporation. I have a 29. Too much of a rise can be problematic and can cause stress but not as much as lowering of salinity.
Look into auto top off systems (ATO).

I lose 1/3 to 1/2 gallon everyday in my 15 gallon with 150W MH and fans.
I lose 5 gallons a week in 90 with 440W VHO no fans.
Water loss is normal.
I keep jugs of RO water and top off everyday. I bought float switches to do a DIY top off, just have not got round to it yet.
