Evaporation Question?

In an average day in a 125 gallon tank, what is the normal amount of water I will lose to evaporation.
It just seems like I am filling up the water quite often and certainly alot more often than when I had my 75 gallon set-up?

I have a 125 gallon tank and I have to add 3 to 4 gallons every 2 days.

I'm no expert,but i think we need more info before we can help such as what lights you are running and how high above the water they are. that will make a big diference in your evaporation levels.

i don't know about the 125, but, in my 29, i have to replace a gallon a day.

Just upgraded to 92 gal from 30 gal this past weekend. Evaporation has gone through the roof! On the order of 2-3 gal/day! I know it's not leaking because salinity goes up as water decreases.....Lighting is 2 250 watt HQI MH w/ 10,000K dbl end bulbs (1 Aqualine Buschke, the other Ushio)

so it is not so unusual if I am adding about 2 gallons every 3 days?
I have 1 pc of 130 watts
1pc of 96 watts
1 set of 50/50 48 inch double light stip(80 watts)
and 1 30 watt 36 inch light strip.
All sit right on the glass canopy.

I loose almost that on my 100. I have to add about 2 gallons every other day.

so I should not think that it is due to a leak in my tank, just a normal event?

I lose about 1G every other day in my 65G

i add a gallon to my 20 every other day, like clockwork! i got alot of water movement and an open top.

Check your salt level before and after water addition is necessary. If salt level goes up, then evaporation. If salt level is going down, then you have a leak somewhere and the added water is diluting your tank water
