Wondering who listens to her and what her style of music is. My son likes her music, I like a few of her songs.

looking at her wb site, i was thinking new age or goth, just not my generation of rock i guess.
I keep an eye on what my 12 yr old is listening to

it is of the genre of Nickelback, Daughtry,etc....pre-packaged, mtv friendly, "rock by numbers" music that doesn't have much substance.
do your kid a favor and buy them a Tool album, or something from another band that has original music and lyrics that promote a little bit of self reflection.
EDIT: I just went back and saw that your kid is 12. maybe wait a couple years on Tool. not that the lyrics are THAT bad, but it's more adult oriented content.

Modern Rock, they're ok, her name is Amy Lee. Tool is amazing, my favorite is Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor is a musical genius, IMO.

Evanescence is technically a type of symphonic metal, but a watered down version. Try Epica if you want the real stuff
Sensorium is a good starter song if you want to see what they're about

I like Evanesence. Amy Lee has a great voice. I know it's kind of "canned" music, but much like "Starship Troopers," if you know what you're seeing/hearing it's really pretty enjoyable.

evanescence is pretty g rated. not goth, its radio friendly rock. some of the songs are OK, its not as "packaged" as some of the crap on the radio these days.

+2! trent is the man!
up there with him - richard d james. my friend and i wrote him letters asking him to adopt us, but we havent heard back.

marilyn manson (portrait era, i like it all, but portrait is where its at), amy winehouse, ozzy, tomcraft, porcelain and the tramps, lots of techno.

Yea, I'm a fan of Manson, Winehouse and Ozzy too. Not familiar with the other bands but I'll check them out on Myspace. I listen to pretty much everything except country. Music is my life.
