I went to my lfs today and bought everything i possibly could need for my 55 gal aquarium. They gave me this stuff called TLC for saltwater aquariums and told me that it cuts down the cycling period. They also told me to go ahead and fill my tank with tap water along with my salt mix and add this stuff called Primer that's in a white bottle with red lettering. They said it would be okay to do at first but afterwards i would need RO water for tap off and water changes. Ever head of these 2 things and what has been your experience with them??

It would be best to use RO water but yes I have used tap water with primer and then made the move to RO. It works fine. Some people can use tap water just fine all the time it depends on what the water out of it is like. As for the TLC stuff I have never seen it. I would just let the tank cycle the right way. Salt water tanks take time if you rush things I bet it wont work out in the long run.

i never heard of the TLC before but they told me to use it right after I get everything set up with the sand and lr and such. It says on the bottle "reduces fish stress and mortality" "stops ammonia and nitrite build up" "safe for all fish and invertebrates" It says to use when starting new tanks, adding new fish, after medication and for maintaining biological balance.
