I have what are best indentified as fuzzy mushrooms (red/purple glow green under actinic lighting). One of them was quite a bit larger than the rest on the rock and was covering them when fully open (almost 2 inches across). I decided I would try my hand at fragging this mushroom. I cut it into 4 pieces and 3 of them have done well and I lost the third piece. I was looking at the rock I cut the large polyp from and there is a new mushroom growing from what was the base of the removed polyp. This is my first time fragging anything...is this normal with mushrooms or is this a freak accident??

I would think this to be normal. The root of the mushroom was still in the rock so it just began to grow again.

its perfectly normal. it takes very little flesh for a discosoma or rhodactis to regenerate into a full clone. if you get bored someday search on here for mushroom in a blender.
