Either sitting next to the tank and simply watching while enjoying a beer, OR, with a flashlight late at night trying to find all of the little hidden creatures.

my favorite part is everthing im still learning about keeping saltwater fish. i dont know if anyone else has this happen to them, but someone will ask me a question about my tank, and i will start saying all the technical terms about ph, and calcium and things like that. i have to stop myself, because i know they have NO idea what im talkin about.

Seeing fish wake up. The antics turn on and the blue green reef chromis come out one by one and swim in a very tight school around the tank and wake up the rest of the tank. I don't even have to get out of bed and I got a smile on my face.;)

i love just sitting around watching it, even without fish in it(my tank is recovering from an ich outbreak). It's kind of funny when the hermit crabs fall off of the rock and attack eachother.

I agree with everyone. Just looking at the finished product (although we are never really finished) Also the satisfaction that I have made a whole new world, and am responsible for its well being!

jarvis you should be a writer.
i can't think of only one or two things. i enjoy every part of the hobby. i find myself doing more homework and reading about this hobby than i do my school work.

pfrboy- Same here man. My classes have been feeling the effect of my passion for this hobby. Even while I'm at school, if I'm near a computer, I GOTTA jump on and check the board... I miss yall sometimes when I'm actually doing work pertaining to school and not researching corals and asking dumb questions. And every PC I use, I change the wallpaper to some killer reef pic. That is my mark. lol :D

Watching the tank sure is high up there but I enjoy the challenges it brings as much as anything. I love waking up in the middle of the night wondering how my nitrates are doing, or running home at lunch to see if the latest project is still working properly.

Two things, first is getting something new to the tank. Then, watching the animals interact with each other. They all have such interesting personalities. I swear you could write a book about our society and use a marine aquarium as your examples.

I love it when people come over and look at the tank and say "Is that a saltwater tank?" "I would love to have a SW tank but there sooo much work!" Then they OOOH and AHH over the pretty colors. :D

Sitting around watching my tank, sitting around learning about my tank, but ultimately the challenge of manipulating so many variables and striving for success (which of course leads me back to the couch watching my tank even more. Its that continual cycle that I love the most.

i love the customization part of the tank... setting up all the mechanics just the way i want, setting up the rocks that look pleasing to me... basically the whole setting up the tank part....
I think when i am almost done with my tank, i will have to get another to start tinkering with...lol..
My roomate thinks the live rock i have actually move by themselves... because every time he looks at it, i either got a new piece of live rock, or changed my configuration....lol..
I would love to say all the things in the tank i get to look at, but i am not even done cycled. almost a month,, but setting it all up is definitely keeping me busy.
