A) If you go to a parts store and they give you the wrong parts, you take it back and exchange it for the correct one, try that with a dead fish.
B) If someone is moronic enough to see a doughnut with a label that says, healthy, eat me, then they get what they deserve, chances are if they are this stupid they shouldn't have fish, pets or children, unless your Homer Simpson......D'ho...
C) So if someone told you to "go jump off that mountain" you would do it before or after you studied the effects of gravity and velocity on bones? Now, that would be a painful experience you wouldn't forget and you would probably do some research before you did it again unless you are the person or persons associated in section B

Well, I suppose that if the person who told me that was in a Mountain Jumping Store, selling the opportunity to jump off that mountain, and he told me he thought it was the proper time, and that he has done it before, always lands just right so he doesn't get hurt, yeah, maybe I would by the chance to do it!
I agree that the LFS was wrong - and I agree that potential hobbyists need to research - but sometimes people trust other people to 1) know what they are talking about since they are in a pet store 2) trust that the person will not try to "screw them over" -- HARD to believe I know, but some people have faith in other people sometimes...
fish store was wrong - but you learned that, and do not shop there...

Must be nice to know everything....and to never trust anyone.
You must have seconded guessed all your teachers?
I mean just because you were in a place of learning...who'd think the teachers are correct?
