Evil Algea Invasion!!!

i have a lot of algea in my tank and its all over the rocks
ive tried not turning on the lights and i just tried scrubbing it off with a new toothbrush and it didnt seem to work
are there any other ways to get rid of it maybe a chemical??
i dont put food in the tank since i dont have fish and i use RO water

how old is your set up and what kind of algae is it??? is it in direct sunlight??? what are you waters paramters???

how's phosphstes and nitrates? No don't use any chemicals.

also the tank is in my room where there are 2 windows
but i dont think the sunlight is bad at all
i dont know what kind of algae it is either

its green not lime green though
it is on the sand and makes like a green carpet
why shouldnt i use chemicals?

yeah it might have been 6ppm
but the guy said that if i had enough algae it would eat the phosphates

why did your fish die? was that algea part of the cause of death?, sounds like something is wrong in your tank. where are you getting phosphates from?

I was under the impression that carpet algea isn't a natural bloom. Might want to get a picture so that many of the professionals that frequent can identify it and why its happening. How big is your clean up crew, and how big is your tank.

well i still have no idea why all my fish die when all my water parameters are stable
ill post a picture when i figure out how haha

Hello-would probably help to give as much info as you can-size of tank,how long its been set up,all your water parameters, what fish did you lose,when were they added, what do you feed,do you have corals, etc...there are many very experienced people here who can help if they have all the information! And also pics are a help! :happyfish :happyfish Also what type of lights and lighting schedule...

my tank is a 20g with a remora skimmer
i have 130w PC lights
parameters are
PH 8.0-8.2
trites 0
trates 0
amm 0
SG 1.026
ive had it set up for about 5 months and put 2 clowns in about 3 months ago that died in 2 days
and recently about 4 weeks ago i put in a firefish and he died after 3 days
i have 3 black margarita snails in now and 7 assorted hermits
1 xenia thats healthy and has been in for 4 weeks
i dont put any food in for the hermits
i dont really know how to put pics in but am working on it
i think that the algae is green hair algae but i will look at other pics
