Excuse me, while I take a moment to Scream

I was doing my monthly cleaning of the pumps filters, etc... Was woking in the sump.. when low and behold what comes tumbling down but the overflow tubing... fell apart at the overflow box.. water all over the place.. We just got that new overlfow box about a month ago.. and hubby set it all up for me.. Of course the tank being in the corner.. we were stupid enough to put the overflow box to the left of the tank, which is directly in the corner... DUH... hello fred.. almost impossible to get at.. and of course hubby is at doctor appts with VA all day today.. So I get to fix it all by my lill ole self.
Thank goodness for drip loops.. I haven't gotten electrocuted yet today.. I unplugged everything but 2 pumps in the main tank.. and hooked them to a heavy duty extension running up and over the hood, till I can get the ***
&&**--- mess cleaned up.
When all is said and done, I am putting the overflow on the right side of the tank for easier access..
Now that I've had a good scream.. I'm going to pause to have a cup of coffee,

before I get back to the task at hand.

yeah, I have to be carefull, turning my pump on/off
One time a large amount of air surged through the pipes and blew a seam apart. I had water on the ceiling.
Your bound to get shocked a few times when this happens

Ok everyone.. we all back together.. I switched the overflow to the right side and all the electrical cords to the left.. will make things a little easier for me.. My husband got home just in time to help finish up the water change.. such is life.. LOL
My poor chromie, bubble tip anemone and pink xenia's are all stressed out.. my percula's rock blenny and the rest of my corals seem ok.. didn't seem to phase em a bit.
Bonebrake thats a cool picture..

Well a few things come to mind here.
First and for-most GFI outlets. If you don't want to bother with changing out the wall outlets you can get outlet splitters that have a unit between it and the splitter. They definitely work. I was fiddling with my tank and some water got to one of the extensions that was plugged into my GFI outlet splitter and everything went dead. Fortunately I am talking about all the tank electronics and not me. For a few seconds I had thought my lights had quit working.
Second; tile floors. Carpet in the aquarium room wont last six months.
Third; a good quality wet dry vacuum.
Fourth; scream into a pillow so the neighbors don't freak out and call the police.

1st: don't have GFI outlets.. have to check that one out..
2nd: yup.. its on tile floor
3rd: yup, gots one of them too...
4th... LOL... our walls are pretty sound proof..

I lost my heater.. it cracked during the mishap today.. and the timer on my power center cord quit working.. however I tried it again tonight and its working fine now.. Just like a timex, it took a lickin and kept on tickin.. I did have to run out and buy another heater though.. All fish and corals are back to their usual status..

Sorry about your luck
Is your plumbing PVC or tubing??? If it's PVC it would be a good idea to glue all your connections.....If it's spa tubing it should have been glued as well into the fittings and if it was vinyl or flex tube, maybe worm clamps could be used to get a more secure fit on things......Plumbing is one thing you don't want to chance....They drain quick........

its vinyl tubing.. the most I can loose from the main tank is about 5 gallons (thats enough to cause damage).. , it won't drain no more than that cause once the water drops below the overlow box.. it stops draining.. thank goodness for that. Can't use the clamps cause the tubing fits snuggly inside the drain box tube.. when I put it back together, I glued it.. then put plumbing tape around it.. Then I went out and got some duct tape.. I'm gonna wrap it with that.. triple xxx secure... I hope..
