Just wondering if you remove them from your tank after the crabs or hermits shead? or if you just leave them in the tank for food for the "little critters" Thanks....Kraz

I leave mine but don't take my advice, I'll be checking to see what other people say as well. Something eats them, and pretty quickly. Not sure what though.

Leave them in. THe animal that sheds them will usually eat it rather quickly. The exuvium as it is called in the scientific community, is composed of mostly chitin, this is nutritious to all animals that molt. They eat there exoskeleton because of the nutrient found within, and it promotes the fabrication of there new skeleton. After about 2 weeks if it is not gone then you could remove it for astetic reasons(spelling?)

I beleve that as the shells detererate they release agronite and calcium witch is absorbed back into your reef.healthy!!!
