i guess im just lucky, i never had that problem, the first time jess saw a tank on my computer screen, her exact words were, "i want one", LOL so, as soon as we get our own place, and i think i got her talked into lettin me do a pico, we'll just tell her folks its a betta bowl
, but, as soon as we get our own place, im gettin a nano and a 40g breeder, nano for corals, 40g breeder fowlr
and then, when we buy a place, hopefully next summer, LOL, im building twin 250's, one for me, an one for her
, i just get to take care of everything

My husband was 'okay' with the thought of me buying a tank.I researched it for over a year of what exactly i needed, so he knew i was seriuos. He was overseas at the time and said it would 'give me something to do and not spend money'
HAHAHAHAHHA When he came home after 9 months away and seeing the money out of our account he said 'i can't believe the tank is THAT SMALL'
(we were living in an apt so i only got a 35g custom made acrylic with sump,,,,, about $300 for the tanks, then the stand then everything else, needless to say he though it would be atleast the 75g we had seen the year before, but i didnt want to have to move that big of a tank) So, we bought a new house and he said i needed a bigger tank, that it wasn't fair to keep my fish so cramped. So now, 150g with the stand we built ourselves.
He said when we build our next house (in the next 5 years ish) that our poor fish are going to need a much bigger home cuz they are starting to grow so fast
so we have incorporated a built in 450g fish tank as a divider wall between our hall to our bedroom and the living room

Try to get her involved. Let her pick something out, as mentioned. She isn't completely "anti-fish" right? Let her know that you want her to be involved in your tank. Women are weird creatures. I admit it, they are.

Been there friend.
Not typical by any means, but on days when nothing I say is right...such as saying hello, and having my tone questioned
.
