Yeah slowest is fastest,
There were several reasons.
As you said, I wanted individual control on two banks of lights.
Actinics to come on at a predetermined time, followed by either the Aquasun's or the 50/50's at a later time.
Same in reverse for dusk simulation.
I'm pulling a lot of amps at this wall recepticle/circuit.
I didn't want everything to fire up at once.
The Hellolight package is wired in series - I've messed around enough with strings of Christmas tree lights, looking for the problem, to keep me from doing that on my reef tank lighting.
The PFO is plug-n-play. You can switch plugs around, run lights in combinations as you choose, and that seemed better to me.
You can't easily work on a "potted" seal electronic ballast, to troublshoot or replace separate components.
I went with PFO for my MH system - and liked what I read about them.
I liked the integral timers - same price adder as if I went to Home Depot - and they're wired into the ballast already. Save me some time and clean appearance.
I appreciated the help and service I got from the "vendor" up front during my presale telephone converstations.
I planned to build a wood cabinet for the MH ballast anyway - so the additional length was of little concern.
That's pretty much why.
