Topic says it all. I added two (my first fish for a new reef) tonight. They seem great. I've heard the eat algae and sand sift. I saw them in the lfs eatimg micro algae, and in my tank sifting. They are very young, maybe 1 amd 1/4 inches atm.
So, anyone have any experience with these green headed red lined beauties?

They are gorgeos little fish, but from all of the reading that I have done since my failures suggests that these little guys have specialized diets that are very difficult to duplicate in the home aquarium. I know of several other people with as much or more experience than I have and they all say the same thing. True, they are sand sifters, but like Mandarins unless you have a well established tank with a large copepod population you will have probably no chance with them at all. Even then, they are very difficult. Sorry. :( </strong><hr></blockquote>
They eat copepods? Not like a mandarin, I hope, buit only as a supplement? . . .I hope . . ..

Bummer Baron. :( Mine are quite small and were picking at diatoms/micro algaue at a good sw lfs in my area. At least they are reportedly reef safe.
Mine disappeared about an hour ago, after I saw them doing some sand sifting/poo sifting (gross). What did you have them with Baron? Or was it a single?

Hmm. That's strange Baron. I appreciate that. Myu lfs sems to have a supply of them. There were avbout 15-20 1-1/4" specimens in it. Plus, I saw larger specimens there in opther tanks (aboiut 2+ inches).
Thanks for your response, I'll let you know what happens, or remind me?
