hi everyone, i have a flower pot coral that i have had for about 2 months now. the last 2 days it has not opened? before the that it opened every day. is this a cause for concern? all my other corals seem fine
Watch it for a while and see if there is a fish or something bothering it.
Have you changed the water flow at all?
Could there be an angry coral nearby (chemical warfare)
Nitrates too high
Sand being kicked into it.
Flowerpot coral is a bugger to keep...mine would do well for months and then just close up. The last one I had seemed to do great until my clowfish tried to host it.
So look at the above list and see if any of these could be fixed and maybe cause the coral to reopen for you.
I have the same problem with my flower pot. My clownfish loves is. It hardly ever opens anymore. We can't seem to keep the fish away from it. We were thinking about trying to add another coral to try and lure him away from the FP.

Good luck with that. That clown is staring you down, like it's saying "Go ahead punk make my day"
That's what he does. He doesn't let anything get near that thing, and he doesn't leave it unless it's time to eat. We move it, he finds it. He chases Mandy the mandarin away from it too. lol
be very careful with your CUC and the flow pot. I came home one day to find a blue leg hermit eating the flower pot. He had eaten about 1/4 of it when I caught him. It looked like an empty honey comb where he ate.
