I just received a shipment from SWF and in the bag with my sandsifting cucumber there is a snakelike thing...it is very thin, about 3" long...Do not have a clue...tried to look up pics, but can not identify, and I know I can not get a pic...I am scared to let it out in my tank...It is acclimating right now, and if I can not figure it out, I think I will put it in the tank in some sort of container until I can find out. If anyone has any ideas, or knows whereelse I can look at pics, please help me.

bristleworm...

Look up hitchhikers in one of the "helpful threads" posts in the New Hobbyist section.

This is a pearlfish. This is considered a symbiotic fish. It is thought that it feeds on the gonads of the sea cucumber.
The Pearlfish enters and leaves through the anus of the sea cucumber and is rumored to leave the sea cucumber at night and feed on small fishes and shrimps.

Just found out what it is...It is called a pearlfish..they come with the cuc, and they actually crawl inside of it and live there...they are harmless to cuc, the cuc can live w/o it, I have been advised to get rid of it since it will eat small fish and shrimp.

If there wasn't a possibility of it eating other stuff I'd keep it...LOL...BUT I am not keeping it. too risky

enters and exits through the anus? Must be an INTERESTING relationship.... I'd have to get some serious benefits for something like that to happen, jk!!! LOL sorry for the dirty joke, I couldn't resist ^
